Question-Answer Session with BABAJI

Place: Bangkok August 2001

Ques 1 Babaji, I am a Satsangi but I have no choice but to cook non vegetarian food for my family. Am I collecting bad Karmas? BABAJI Sister, you are definitely collecting bad Karmas. Try to keep away from such actions as far as possible but do not disturb the peace of your household. If you are forced to do this thing for the sake of maintaining peace or for the sake of duty then do face your karmas and continue doing your duty bravely. God understands

Ques 2 Babaji, when everything is predestined then is committing suicide also predestined? And if it is destined then why is suicide called a sin and why are we forbidden to do so? BABAJI Sister, we have no right to take or end something which we cannot give. And why do you think negative that suicide must be written in destiny? This human life is given to us as a gift and we should make the best use of it. Suicide is a great sin.

Ques 3 Babaji, I have no control over my anger and I get angry very easily even for minor things. Is it wrong to be angry upon anyone and will I create bad karmas? BABAJI Sister, it is not good to get angry with anyone. If your family members scold you and get angry with you all the time over small matters then how would you feel? Won’t you then wish that they should love you rather then get angry with you and to point out your mistakes lovingly? It is very easy to hurt other people’s feelings but very difficult when you have to pay for it. When we hurt other people’s feelings through our anger we are also greatly harming our own self because anger produces very harmful chemicals in our body and also our thoughts are directed downwards which are not congenial to your meditation. Make every effort to gradually and steadily control your anger and to stay away from it.

Ques 4 Babaji, are ghosts and spirits a reality? BABAJI Sister, in Santmat we have nothing to do with ghosts. Such things cannot come near any Satsangis but if they experience such things then it is only a projection of their own imagination. As far as we are concerned there are no ghosts.

Ques 5 Babaji, how to make the mind numb (sunn) and totally thoughtless? BABAJI Brother, what do you do when you come back from your office mentally and physically tired or when your mind is not at peace? You listen to soft music which has a relaxing effect upon your mind and we also experience a revival of physical energies. When ordinary music can have such a soothing effect on you then imagine how you would feel to listen to the Inner Shabad emanating from God, which the Greek philosophers have called as the music of the spheres? Once you hear it your mind goes into Sunn Samadhi and doesn’t run here and there anymore.

Ques 6 Babaji, I am not a Satsangi. I have not been initiated but I sit for meditation. But in spite of meditating, I have not found or seen anything inside. Have you yourself found all the things inside which you talk about? BABAJI Brother, I do not know what meditation you do or whose dhyan you follow. And you asked whether I have found all that I talk about, how can I tell you myself? And even if I do reply to you, how will you know whether I am telling the truth so how much can you believe? The traces of doubt would still remain in your mind.
